Battle of Titans: Kiplimo up against Ethiopia's Aregawi in Monaco Diamond League
In a star-studded race, Kiplimo will face tough competition from renowned athletes such as Yomif Kajelcha, Bekele Telehu (Ethiopia), Ahmed Muhammad (Canada), and Kenya's Martin Kimeli.
However, the spotlight is on Kiplimo and Ethiopian stars Aregawi and Kajelcha, who have posted impressive times this season.
Aregawi has posted the fastest time this year, with Kiplimo and Kajelcha closely following.
Showing great form, Aregawi beat Joshua Cheptegei to the podium with a time of 12:40.45 at Lausanne's Athletissima meeting on June 30.
Kiplimo and Kajelcha clocked the fifth fastest time in history at a distance this year with a 12:41.73 photo-finish at the Oslo Diamond League last month.
Joshua Cheptegei, who set the 5,000m world record of 12:35.36sec at the 2020 Monaco Diamond League meeting, will not be taking part.
The 2023 Monaco Diamond League meeting will serve as the precursor to the World Athletics Championships, due August 19-27 in Budapest.
