Super Eagles star Awoniyi started the game on the bench for Forest after making an error that cost them the game against Liverpool.

Brighton secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest leaving them struggling in the league.

Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi made seven changes from Thursday’s 4-0 defeat at Roma. De Zerbi opted for Bart Verbruggen between the posts instead of Jason Steele.

Tariq Lamptey, Igor, Facundo Buonanotte, Danny Welbeck and Julio Enciso dropped to the bench, while Billy Gilmour served the final game of a three-match suspension.

Nottingham Forest made two changes to the side that suffered a controversial late defeat by Liverpool last weekend. Fit-again striker Chris Wood replaces Anthony Elanga while Callum Hudson-Odoi is replaced by Danilo.

Super Eagles star Taiwo Awoniyi was also dropped to the bench after his costly mistake last week against Liverpool.

Nottingham Forest started the game brightly and put pressure on Brighton but were outsmarted by the home side who took the lead.

Brighton had a free-kick on the left and the delivery was turned into his net by Andrew Omobamidele.

The first half ended with Brighton leading at the break. The second half started Brighton added more intensity to their game. However, they could not create chances to extend their lead. 

Nottingham Forest on the other hand had to bring in Super Eagles star Awoniyi after the forward costly error against Liverpool but his presence was not enough to get a point for his team.
