Sharrif Musa's inconsistency since joining Gor Mahia has tended to make him polarise opinion, but his good form recently earned him a recall to the Harambee Stars set up.

Gor Mahia winger Sharrif Musa has revealed how he handles the level of criticism he receives from the club’s fans following his recent recall to the Harambee Stars set up.

Since joining Gor Mahia in January 2024, Musa has been relatively inconsistent. Performing well in some games, and struggling with others.

As a result, he has tended to polarise opinion at the club, with a section of the fanbase crying foul over his decision making and final ball despite possessing some admirable qualities, such as one v one threat and pace.

On handling the criticism, Musa, who once played for Kariobangi Sharks, shared:“Their stones are my foundation and a good, healthy tree that bears fruit is the one that gets pelted with pebbles.”

He added:

“As human beings, we all have our ups and downs. You need to use the low moments to galvanise and make you better. If you let them demoralise you, they will, but if you take the positive out of those moments, they make you better.”

Reflecting on his national team recall—the first since March 2024 when he was an unused substitute during Kenya’s Malawi 4 Nations tour—Musa said:

“It is an amazing feeling to earn a recall to the national team.”

How Musa Has Grown Since Last Call Up

He spoke about the hard work he has put in during the 20 months away from the team:

“It is very competitive to even make it here. Everyone dreams of getting a call up. If you slip a little, someone else takes advantage. I have been working hard and I thank God I got another opportunity.”

Looking ahead to Kenya’s friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and Senegal this November in Turkey, Musa remains confident:

“Just being confident about the moment I will be given and everything will be good.”

Finally, he expressed gratitude to those who have supported him:

“I want to thank my teammates at Gor Mahia, as well as the coaches, because they have made me better.”

Musa’s journey reflects resilience and determination as he aims to cement his place both at Gor Mahia and with Harambee Stars.
