Kylian Mbappe's lightning speed rivals Usain Bolt's, as showcased on the pitch as PSG triumph in the Champions League.

Kylian Mbappe's speed on the football field strikes fear into the hearts of defenders around the world.

The French forward's lightning-fast pace has been the subject of much admiration and comparison with many wondering just how fast he truly is.

According to the BBC, Mbappe has clocked an estimated time over the 100-meter distance, just slightly slower than Bolt's world record time.

"Kylian Mbappe has clocked an estimated speed over 100m. That's just over a second slower than Usain Bolt's world record," reads a post by BBC on X.

Mbappe's exceptional speed was on full display on Tuesday in a Champions League match, where he spearheaded Paris Saint-Germain's victory over Real Sociedad.

With two goals to his name, Mbappe showcased his blistering pace and clinical finishing, leaving the opposition defense in disarray.

Even more impressive was his first strike of Tuesday night was so powerful that it broke the netting by the far post, prompting a short stoppage in play so it could be fixed.

Despite Mbappe's status as one of the fastest players in football, he still falls short of Bolt's extraordinary speed.

A study conducted in 2022 found that Mbappe reached a top speed of 10.6 meters per second, equivalent to approximately 22.4 miles per hour.

In comparison, Bolt's world record sprint at the 2009 IAAF World Championships saw him reach a mind-boggling speed of 47.72 kilometers per hour, or roughly 29.65 miles per hour.
