The prodigy was influenced to join Manchester City by England international Phil Foden.

Coming from a rich sporting background, Manchester City wunderkind Aymen Onyango made his dad Lucas proud after resuming training with the reigning UEFA Champions League winners.

Aymen inked a deal with Manchester City back in March to join the Under Nine side after attending trials at City’s cross town rivals Manchester United and Liverpool.

The eight year old was influenced to join the blue half of Manchester by his football idol Phil Foden who previously lived in close proximity to his dad’s warehouse.

After returning to training following the start of the new season, Aymen made his dad proud who took to X (formerly Twitter) to mark the occasion.

“The rugby player and the footballer back in training and am super proud of these two boys kkkkkkaaaaammmmmaaaannn (common)," posted Lucas.

Aymen’s elder brother Yakubu Onyango however chose to follow in the footsteps of his dad and chose to carve out a career in rugby.

The City youngster on Saturday featured in a game against Leeds United which coincidentally came on his birthday and was present at the Etihad Stadium to watch Manchester City tear apart Fulham in a Premier League encounter.

"Happy 9th birthday to our rainbow baba boy and me and you mama thank God for good health and life to see you grow up. This morning you ripped it up away at Leeds and now watching Fulham then we go home and party. You are a blessing to all of us and we love you very much," posted Lucas.

His dad Lucas, is part of Kenya's annals of history as he represented Kenya Sevens team, Shujaa at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002.

Previously turning out for University of Nairobi's Mean Machine, Lucas made the switch to Manchester RFC and relocated to England thereafter.

It is still a long way for Aymen before he can make his Premier League debut if he stays at City but he will certainly look to emulate Victor Wanyama and Tyler Onyango as the only Kenyans who have played in the English top flight.
