Retired Kenya international Stephen Waruru has seamlessly transitioned into a new role within the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) side Bidco United.

The 33-year-old, who bid farewell to professional football in June while still donning the colors of Bidco, has undertaken the responsibilities of team manager after the resignation of Martin Mage, a former player at the club.

Joining Bidco United when they ascended to the top flight in 2020, Waruru initially took on the role of security officer and handled logistics for the team after hanging his boots.

However, with the departure of Martin Mage, the club deemed Waruru fit to assume the vital position of team manager.

In an official statement, the club expressed their pleasure in announcing this development and extended best wishes to Mage in his future endeavors.

"We are pleased to announce that after the resignation of our former team manager Martin Mage, Stephen Waruru, who was formerly in charge of security and logistics, will assume all the duties of the team manager. The club wishes Mage all the best in his future endeavors," stated the club.

Waruru, a seasoned professional, etched his name in Kenyan football lore during his time with Ulinzi Stars, where he played for an impressive nine seasons.

His standout achievements include clinching the Kenyan Premier League title with Ulinzi in 2010 and earning the distinction of the league's top scorer the following year, netting an impressive 12 goals.

After departing Ulinzi Stars in 2017, Waruru embarked on a journey that saw him ply his trade with Sofapaka, a stint that marked his transition from military service to civilian life.

Subsequently, he joined KCB in June 2019 before eventually signing with Bidco in pursuit of building a robust and competitive team following their promotion to the Premier League in 2020.

Waruru's impact extends beyond the domestic arena, as he actively participated in the East African Military Games in 2017, showcasing his prowess on a broader regional stage.

For the national team, Harambee Stars, Waruru earned his place in history, featuring in eight games and leaving an indelible mark by scoring a couple of goals.
