AS Roma midfielder Nemanja Matic is pleased with the progress his former club Manchester United have made this season, and he expects them to compete for the Premier League title next season.

The 34-year-old played for Manchester United for four seasons, from 2017/18 until 2021/2022 before leaving for Roma. 

Matic played for the Red Devils during a troubling period in which they won no trophies; however, he believes United are on the up now and expects them to be in contention for the league title.

Matic sat down with SkySports in Rome when he spoke about his time in the Premier League and the feelings he has for Chelsea and Manchester United, whom he represented in England.

The Serb enjoyed his time in the Premier League and wished his old clubs well. He was asked about the rebuilding Manchester United are experiencing under Erik Ten Hag, and Matic answered positively, saying he likes the new face of the Red Devils and their approach to play. 

He said he is happy with their current trajectory and assures them that next season they will make a Premier League title charge.

"I like the way he wants to play, I like the way United are playing. They have had some ups and downs and that is normal with a new manager. But I'm happy with how they have progressed and I think next season they will fight for the title for sure," he told SkySports.
