The striker continues to be a dependable goal scorer for K’Ogalo, Ingwe stumble.

Benson Omala’s 19th Football Kenya Federation Premier League goal boosted Gor Mahia’s chance to reclaim the title.

The in-form forward struck in the first half to ensure that K’Ogalo, who have been outwitted by Tusker in the last two seasons in the title race, emerged with a slim 1-0 win over Bidco United.

The win came after previous outings that saw Gor Mahia drop points; they initially fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mathare United before a 2-2 draw against Nzoia Sugar.

With Sunday’s victory over Bidco at Nyayo Stadium, K’Ogalo opened a five-point gap against second-placed KCB, as Omala continues with his high-speed progress towards winning the Golden Boot award.

At Kasarani, Mathare United handed AFC Leopards a shocking 1-0 defeat as the latter celebrated their birthday.

Chris Owino, a second-half substitute, scored the all-important goal for the Slum Boys in the 71st minute.

On their special day, Ingwe did not field their regular starters, Kayci Odhiambo, Musa Oundo, and Lewis Bandi.

The win for Mathare is a crucial achievement for them as they attempt to move way above the relegation zone. They are currently 14th with 19 points.

At Mbaraki Stadium, Nzoia Sugar, who had been hitherto considered title challengers, suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bandari.

With the loss, Nzoia Sugar dropped to the fifth position, while Bandari, whose win came from Joe Waithira’s second-half goal, are eighth with 27 points.

Kakamega Homeboyz suffered a 1-0 loss to Police FC in a match held at Bukhungu Stadium.

Duke Abuya’s 88th-minute strike was enough to hand the Police the vital points, as the home side were left to rue unconverted chances.

Sunday Karamor missed a first-half penalty that would have broken the deadlock in favour of the hosts.

At Ruaraka, Tusker had to fight back and ensure they picked up a point after a 1-1 draw against Talanta.

Talanta took the lead through Alvin Ochieng before Charles Momanyi scored late in the second half for the Brewers.

The draw leaves Tusker third – six points below leaders Gor Mahia – while Talanta, just above the relegation zone, are 15th with 18 points.

Julius Masaba and Fortune Omoto powered Kariobangi Sharks to a 2-1 victory over KCB, while Ulinzi Stars succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Posta Rangers.

Finally, Nairobi City Stars' winless run stretched to seven matches after playing to a 1-1 draw against Sofapaka at Kasarani on Saturday.

The game was played as match-fixing allegations surrounded it after three people were arrested in Roysambu. The trio was alleged to have been planning how to influence the outcome of the match.
