The Ugandan ran a tactically executed race to claim second place behind Kenya's Sebastian Sawe, as 2024 champion Alexander Mutiso Munyao settled for third.

The half marathon world record holder executed a smart race for his marathon debut.
It was a tactical race from the Ugandan, who bided his time while the likes of marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge battled with Sawe and Olympic champion Tamirat Tola at the lead.
By the 1:01:31 mark, Kiplimo was still trailing the leaders.
