The world of athletics has been thrown into a state of shock following the passing away of former NCAA 1500m record holder Eliud Kipsang.
Eliud Kipsang, who was residing in the US, was a talented athlete who specialised in the 1500m but also competed in the 800m and 5000m races occasionally.
His talent paid off well as he turned professional in 2023, signing with Adidas and shifting his training base to Boulder, Colorado.

In a post shared on the GoFundMe website by Titus Kiprono, it was announced that Eliud Kipsang suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday, June 6 and was rushed to the hospital.
He was admitted, but there was no light at the end of the tunnel as far as his recovery was concerned, despite the doctors and nurses working around the clock to stabilise him.
The post revealed that he passed away on Tuesday, June 10, with his death coming as a shock to his family, friends, and teammates.

It was further revealed that the burial arrangements have already started, but his body has to be brought back to Kenya first before everything is set.
The family is appealing for any sought of financial help, noting that the whole process requires a large sum of money that they cannot afford on short notice.
For those unable to give financial support, the family welcomes encouraging messages to push them through the difficult moment.
“In this difficult time, we are appealing for both emotional and financial support to help with the repatriation process, so his family can lay him to rest with love and dignity,” the post added.

Eliud Kipsang last raced competitively in 2023, rounding up his season with a 1500m at the NCAA Division I East First Rounds.
