Harambee Stars defensive midfielder Anthony Akumu Agay has found a new club in the Persian Gulf Pro League, ending a night-mareish 20-month spell in his career.
The former Gor Mahia, Zesco and Kaizer Chiefs man has joined Kheybar Khorramabad FC on a year-long contract, extending until June 30, 2025, according to Transfermarkt.
Akumu's journey to Iran marks a new chapter in his career after a challenging stint in Japan, where he struggled to secure playing time.

Restricted to just three cup games with Sagan Tosu and failing to make any league appearances, Akumu left the club earlier this year and has been a free agent since.
Kheybar Khorramabad FC, freshly promoted to the top tier after topping the Azadegan League, has already unveiled Akumu, who is expected to start training with his new teammates immediately.
The club hopes his experience and defensive prowess will bolster their squad as they prepare for their inaugural season in the Persian Gulf Pro League.
Despite his recent club challenges, Akumu has remained an integral part of the Kenyan national team setup.
He participated in the Four Nations Invitational Tournament in Malawi and delivered a standout performance against Ivory Coast in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, earning accolades from fans and pundits alike.
Coach Engin Firat sang his praises before the side played against Burundi and Ivory Coast last June.
“I am very happy that Teddy can bring this performance in these very difficult games and it shows he is a perfect professional.
“He is a key player for me and strategically a very clever player and I hope in this period, he comes to his real level because he is very important for me,” added Firat.
Akumu's signing is seen as a significant boost for Kheybar Khorramabad FC, as they look to establish themselves in the Persian Gulf Pro League.
His vast experience, coupled with his defensive capabilities, is expected to be invaluable for the team's ambitions. Getting gametime will also boost his match-sharpness for when Kenya resume their AFCON 2025 qualifiers in September, beginning with the match against Zimbabwe.
