FBL: Race hots up at both ends as the leading pack peel away
Mbarara City was at the top of the table when the FUFA Big League entered match day 19 but was fourth after the games.
Police took lead for the first time following their 4-0 win over Calvary but moved to third after Sam Ssimbwa’s Kitara reclaimed the spot for the first time since he joined in February.
Such has been the high volatility of the table as the battles for promotion and relegation heat up on both ends.
This season could be decided by the smallest of details. Kitara leads the table with 37 points, the same as National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) and Police but are ahead due to their superior goal difference. Mbarara City follows closely with a point less.
Booma sits fifth but is separated from the chasing pack by a whole nine points. They are, however, closer to the chop than the promotion slots.
At 27, just like 8th-placed Calvary, only six points separate them from Kataka in the first red spot. Six of the eight newcomers lie in the bottom half. Clearly, the experience has been tough but can be relieved by the fact that only four will go down.
The league returns this Thursday to close business of the second third as we prepare for the final bend.
