Fans mock Arsenal and Arteta after Eagles win

Fans have mocked Arteta and his Arsenal side after Crystal Palace beat Liverpool in this year’s Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday. 

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal have endured a trophyless five years since the Spaniard led the team to the FA Cup in the 2019/2020 season. 

Although they’ve won the Community Shield and finished second three times in the Premier League during this time, it is still not enough to stop the fans from trolling Arteta and his team. 

It got worse on Sunday afternoon after Oliver Glasner led Palace to a win over Arne Slot’s Reds in the Community Shield. 

The win was Glasner’s second silverware for the Eagles at Wembley in just three months, despite only taking over in February 2024. 

The Austrian had led Palace to the FA Cup in May before winning the Community Shield on Sunday afternoon. 

With the win, Glasner has now matched Arteta’s title legacy in less than two years, leading fans to mock the Arsenal manager and his team. 

A couple of fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to troll the Spanish tactician for his failure to deliver a trophy in the last five years. 

A Fan said: Oliver Glasner has now won the same amount of trophies in 3 months as Mikel Arteta in the last 7 years.

Glasner’s done it with no signings and in the first year at the job while Arteta needed 45 players and a billion pounds 💀😭

“Oliver Glasner has In one season, equalled Artetas 7 year trophy tally at Arsenal 😝😝😝😝😛,” another fan echoed the same view. 

“Phase 1 Oliver Glasner — 2 Trophies in 3 months. Phase 35 Mikel Arteta — 2 trophies in 7 years,” a fan said. 

The comments kept coming, with one Arsenal fan questioning if Arteta’s the right man for the Gunners. 

“Glasner took over Palace in Feb 2024. He won them the FA cup + community shield. He’s just one CS behind Arteta who took over December 2019. Glasner is not managing City or Chelsea, he’s at fvcking Palace. You see things like this and get angry. We are doing “process” at Arsenal,” another fan said. 

“Legacy wise 👌  Oliver Glasner with CrystalPalace 1 year and 6 months 🤯 Mikel Arteta with Arsenal 5 years and 8 months Even Arsenal fans agree 👍” another fan said.

Despite the trolling, however, Arteta and his side are in a good position to end their long wait for a major trophy. 

The Gunners are one of the favourites to win the Premier League this season and are expected to challenge for the EFL Cup, FA Cup and the Champions League.
