The 27-year-old American is the reigning Olympic (9.79s) and World Champion, holding three World 200m titles as well. His personal best of 9.79s, set at the Paris Olympics, edged Kishane Thompson by just 0.005s in what many consider one of the closest finishes in Olympic sprint history.
London has been good to Lyles — he won here in 2024 with a time of 9.81s into a slight headwind, beating both Akani Simbine and Tebogo. Tebogo, however, has evolved since then. Now the Olympic 200m champion, the Botswanan sprinter is hungry to dethrone Lyles over the shorter distance as well.
Tebogo's challenge will be bolstered by familiar names including Simbine (9.86s in London 2024), Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake and Oblique Seville, and British hopes Jeremiah Azu and Zharnel Hughes. Hughes, who clocked 9.97s last year in London, will look to impress the home crowd again.
