Liverpool fan burns down Alexander Arnold’s jersey after defender announces departure

The fullback made a decision not to renew his contract with the club, bringing to an end a 20-year spell.

He is set to join 15-time UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid on a free transfer at the end of the season.

With the defender’s departure, he is expected to sign a proposed six-year deal with Real Madrid.

A Liverpool fan has reacted to the news of Arnold’s departure by burning down the player's jersey on social media.

The video of the Liverpool fan burning the jersey was shared by Midnite on X, with the caption, “That was quick 🤣.”

The jersey, which had Trent Alexander-Arnold's shirt number, 66, written on it and the fullback’s name, was engulfed in flames.

Following his announcement, Liverpool have also released an official statement, confirming his departure and wishing him the best of luck.

The England international made 257 Premier League appearances, helping Liverpool to win two Premier League titles in 2019/20 and 2024/25.
