Rinsola Babajide has fired up for the clash against Cameroon

Super Falcons forward Rinsola Babajide has declared that the friendly match between Nigeria and Cameroon will be nothing short of intense, describing the Indomitable Lionesses as their “biggest rivals.”

Rinsola, who represented England at the youth level, debuted for Nigeria's senior team in October 2023 after receiving her first call-up that same month.

The Yoruba damsel has played for clubs like Liverpool, Millwall Lionesses, Watford, and Brighton & Hove Albion.

What Rinsola said

Speaking ahead of the encounter at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta, Babajide emphasised the team's focus and determination to secure a win.

“Cameroon is our biggest rival, it’s going to be fire,” Babajide told Pulse Sports.

“I will contribute the best I can to the team to help us win. We are just staying focused as we don’t want any distractions," she added.

The highly anticipated fixture is more than just a warm-up as it's going to serve as a symbolic battle between two of Africa’s football powerhouses.

While Nigeria is gearing up for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with hopes of claiming a record 10th title, Cameroon is using the match to assess their squad ahead of the qualifiers.

The match starts at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex, with free entry declared by the Ogun State government.
